Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
